NO WATERMARKS

The Infinity YouTube Storyboard Downloader shows every preview frame YouTube makes for a video — the small images you see when you hover over the timeline — and lets you download them one at a time or all at once.

Works with watch, youtu.be, Shorts, embed and live links.

How the Storyboard Downloader works

The Infinity YouTube Storyboard Downloader reads the storyboard YouTube makes for a video: small preview frames, packed into grids called storyboard sheets. It finds the sharpest sheets available, cuts them into single frames, and labels each frame with its time in the video. Drag the timeline to scrub through them, or download one frame, a ZIP of all frames or a contact sheet.

Example: a 3 min 33 s music video has 108 frames, one every 2 seconds, at 320 × 180 pixels. Choose “Every 10 s” and the ZIP holds 22 frames instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a YouTube storyboard?

A YouTube storyboard is the set of small preview frames YouTube makes for a video: the images you see when you hover over or drag the video's progress bar. YouTube packs the frames into grids called storyboard sheets, and this tool cuts them back into single frames.

How often is there a frame?

YouTube decides, based on the video's length. In our tests, videos of 3 to 5 minutes have a frame every 2 seconds, a 12-minute video has one every 5 seconds, and a 4-hour video has one every 10 seconds. You can't get frames closer together than that, but you can show fewer, for example one every 10 seconds, 30 seconds or minute.

Why are the frames so small?

The frames are made for timeline previews, so YouTube keeps them small: 320 × 180 pixels at most, and 160 × 90 for many videos. For a full-size cover image, use the YouTube Thumbnail Downloader instead.

Why doesn't a video have a storyboard?

Very new uploads and live streams that are still running often don't have one yet, and very short videos may only have a tiny overview. Private videos can't be read at all. If a video has no storyboard, try again later.

Can I use the frames I download?

The frames belong to the video's creator and/or YouTube. Use them for personal reference, research, or commentary that counts as fair use, and don't present them as your own. See our Terms of Service.

Is anything I paste stored?

No. The tool reads the video's public page and storyboard images through our servers so your browser can show them, and we don't keep a record of the videos you look up. Images may be cached for up to an hour so they load faster. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
